8 Individual RS-485 channels allow home-run style wiring Simplify installation by running signals on longer cable runs, without amplifiers Unlike X10, RS-485 signals won't be diminished by electrical noise RS-485 Input Jumper selectable isolation of malfunctioning channels
This 8-port expansion hub uses the RS-485 protocol, which is not only more powerful than the RS-232 protocol, but is also easier and more affordable to install. Because RS-485 signals travel farther along the line, you can run dedicated cable without having to purchase expensive repeaters, couplers, amplifiers. You'll also save money by reducing the amount of wiring used, since devices connected to the RS-485 line can be daisy chained, instead of home run.
Each channel has a separate RS-485 driver, which can transmit signals along 4,000 ft. of cable on each channel. Other features include 2-wire half-duplex operation and 4-wire screw terminal strips (2 power, 2 data). The unit also offers such optional features as a two-way RS-232/485 converter and 16-device configuration. Dimensions are 6" x 4" x 1.5". A 12V power supply is included. |
